THE WEEKEND: SAN FRANCISCO

Over the weekend I took a long over due trip to SF. I seriously love it up there. Here are some snap shots from my mini getaway.

I love the sea of color, especially the ones below. The gradient is lovely.

Two of my favorite spots in SF, The Ferry Building and Coit Tower.

Bright colored sprinkles are a must on top of homemade soft serve.

I loved the wall of bicycle seats at Public.

A trip to SF is never complete until I visit Miette; an added bonus is the beer garden across the way.

MUSIC MONDAY: DE LUX

These guys are awesome! His voice reminds me of David Byrne from the Talking Heads. There are a few songs I love from their new album; it was hard to pick one. I also wish I had seen them perform at the Hammer a couple Thursdays ago, I know I will now be on the lookout for an upcoming show. Happy Monday!

IN THE KITCHEN: VIBRANT FOOD

A couple months ago I bought another cookbook, Vibrant Food. I like this book because of the photography, the layout is clean and easy to follow and it is organized by season. I have made quite a few recipes already. What I love most is that most of the ingredients I can find at the farmer’s market. I also love that I don’t have to buy a bunch of random ingredients that I will never use again (that is a big pet peeve with cookbooks).

So far the one recipe I have made multiple times is this corn and summer squash fritters with avocado creme. Alone the creme is amazing, I have used the leftovers on some taco dishes and I even topped in on a piece of chicken. I am also dying to make the summer berry coconut milk pops. I am getting hungry just thinking about it!! I highly recommend checking out this book.

MUSIC MONDAY: CULTS

It seemed fitting to play Cults, because I am finally going to check out a free summer concert at the Santa Monica Pier this Thursday. It should be a great time, this band is pretty fun to dance to. Especially outside under the stars, looking forward to Thursday. Happy Monday!

VISUALLY LOVELY {11}

Last month I made the trek to MOCA at the Pacific Design Center to see the amazing exhibit by Jacob Hashimoto. Even though the space is small, his installation made up of tiny handmade kits made the space feel huge.

When you first walk in you see a cluster of black, white and grey kits. Some tangled together and others creating these beautiful patterns.

When you walk up the stairs to the main room, you are instantly taken a back by the pure scale of it all. He created a beautiful landscape of rolling clouds, the sun and even water. At some angles the kits created these crazy pixelated images, which sort of messed with my mind. I even had a sudden moment that I felt like I was floating.

I even loved the blocks of patterned kits.

I am so happy I made it out for this exhibit. It was truly inspiring.

MUSIC MONDAY: ROBYN & ROYKSOPP

In honor of her fantastic performance last night, I had to play this instant dance party song. The Hollywood Bowl turned into one big dance party; it was such a fun night. Happy Monday!

HAPPY FRIDAY

image

Friday is here, and I couldn’t be happier. This weekend is pretty much a working weekend, with a really fun dance party squeezed in; Robyn at the Hollywood Bowl. I cannot wait to dance my ass off!

Have a lovely weekend!

Just a little something to think about today

IN THE KITCHEN: BRUSSELS SPROUT CHIPS

Lately I have been making a lot of veggie chips, it definitely saves me when I cannot think of anything to do with them. I have posted about kale chips, and roasting chickpeas, but really any veggie can be turned in to a chip. Recently I made Brussels sprout chips, which are just as good as kale chips and just as easy to make. Now when I am at the farmer’s marketing I will be browsing those veggies to see what I can make next.

INGREDIENTS

Handful of Brussels sprouts, cut the ends and separate the leaves

Grape seed oil (or olive oil)

Salt, cayenne or black pepper, you can use pretty much any kind of seasoning

Preheat oven 325. On a baking sheet spread out the leaves drizzle with oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss around to coat. Place in the oven and cook for 15-20 minutes. I did keep an eye on it because they can burn pretty quickly. Take out of oven place on a paper towel and enjoy!

MUSIC MONDAY: REAL ESTATE

I am surprised I have not picked Real Estate sooner. They are pretty great; I especially love the intro to this song. I am even more excited that they are performing at FYF this year. I like listening to this song on my way into work; it just puts me in a good mood. It is a perfect song to start the week. Happy Monday!
