FOODIE WEDNESDAY: THE FEDERAL BAR

For Father’s Day we adventured south to Long Beach. While there we visited The Federal Bar right in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Formally a bank, the building is transformed into a beautiful gastro-pub, with super high ceilings and giant chandeliers. I was also told in the coming months there will be an under ground speakeasy, with secret passwords.

The menu is pretty diverse; you have burgers, hot dogs, cheeses and small bites. Usually I wouldn’t order such a heavy meal, but I couldn’t resist. I ordered the fried chicken with red velvet waffles. Thankfully the chicken wasn’t over fried, it was the perfect amount of crust and seasoned well. Other dishes ordered were the grilled salmon over black rice, and the roasted chicken over harrissa mash. Both were also very tasty. They also have a spot in NOHO, so I might have to stop by and check it out. If you are in Long Beach I recommend checking out this spot.
