DESIGN’VY #10

It is no surprise that I love ice cream. So when I came across this extremely cute identity for this company Eyescream I nearly fell out of my chair. Designed by M Barcelona, this entire identity has everything you need, cute little ice cream characters, super clean menu and who doesn’t love your ice cream staring back at you. I only wish this company was in the U.S. it is such a great concept.

ARTIST CRUSH: JULIE LEE

I seriously love these photographs by Julie Lee. I am a big fan of patterns, and when you throw food into the mix I love it even more.

imageI love, love, love Taylor Kckimen’s work. It has a great graphic, comic book like quality. I love that he uses random items and transforms them into these beautiful objects. I can sit and look at his work all day, I would love to have one of his potted plants.

Another great example of branding. Mexout designed by the Bravo Company in Singapore. I love the mix of handwritten diagrams and lettering, to the clean simple markings. I love the taco anatomy diagram, gotta love a good diagram when creating your own taco.

imageI first came across David Schwen’s work on Instagram. What caught my attention was his great series simply called #pantonepairings, I thought it was brilliant, funny and quite beautiful. Thankfully he is now selling these pictures and I am definitely purchasing some. I just need to figure out which ones I want. Love, love love!

SPRING FOR SPRING

Happy first day of Spring. I have been waiting patiently to write this post, it seemed very fitting for the day.

Kinfolk Magazine is one of my new favorite magazines, I love the photography, the design and the lovely features that include entertaining and food.

I especially love volume 7 which is all about ice cream. The photographs by P.H. Fitzgerald incorporate florals and ice cream what a great combination. It has a very romantic innocent feel. I wouldn’t mind getting an ice cream cone filled with flowers.

I love these watercolor logos, they all resemble a piece of food and are all used to create different business cards. They are so elegant and playful. I also enjoy a nice colorful logo.

As a designer, I have had my “dream job” fantasies. It is no surprise that one of them is Anthropologie. When I came across this playful and completely shop-able online catalogue it just made that “dream job” fantasy more desirable. Since I work in the fashion industry I am constantly looking for inspiration and this is definitely one to add to the list.

ARTIST CRUSH: ALBERT EXERGIAN

A couple weekends ago I checked out the Graphic Design Now in Production exhibit at the Hammer Museum. It was a graphic designers dream, typography, logos, tv and film opening sequences, posters and books. There was so much to take in, there were definitely a few pieces that stood out to me. I was excited to see Albert Exergian’s television posters on display. They are so simple and straight to the point, I think that’s why I love them so much. I wish I took a better picture of them, but thanks to the internet I found better images of the display. The ones I loved the most were The Simpsons, Weeds and Mad Men. I might just need to purchase one of these for my collection.

DREAM HOME

For the past few months I finally started updating my bedroom. I really love where it is going, but it made me think about having a home of my own and how I would decorate it. I have always loved furniture and interior design, so I am always looking at great interiors for inspiration. I am a little obsessed with this home from Ann Lowe Design.
