L.A. ADVENTURE {2}: THE OLD PLACE

For this installment of L.A. adventures it was more of an impromptu adventure. I hopped in my car and took a wonderful drive through Malibu canyon to a really cool hidden treasure, The Old Place. Tucked away in Agoura Hills lies this really cool western style bar, that serves very rustic  food. My sister and I enjoyed a giant cheese platter, steak and potatoes and finished it off with an amazing sticky toffee cake, oh man it was good!

The bar is very tiny so it does get crowded fast, but luckily there is a winery next door so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer while you wait. You can also just explore the grounds. There is a mailroom that can be used for private parties, I totally want to have my birthday party in there. It has been seen in many tv shows like Doctor Quinn Medicine Women.

I think this might be my new favorite place. It is definitely a great date spot. I cannot wait to go back.

I have now spent an entire week with my new car. Is it bad to say I am in love with a car? I plan on doing some cruising and hopefully make it out to my next L.A. adventure so stay tuned.

Have a lovely weekend!

HAPPY FRIDAY

I know some people might laugh about this entry but who cares. This weekend I will be selling my Mini that lasted me 9 years (my first new car) and upgrading to a brand new Mini S. Living in LA a car is a way of life, I have had many memories in that car. Lots of laughs a few tears and lots of loud singing and car dancing. I don’t know why I am so sentimental over a car, but since I spend most of my time in that thing I can see why I am a little sad. I am looking forward to creating new memories and I cannot wait for that new car smell.

Have a lovely weekend!

L.A. ADVENTURE {1}: WATT’S TOWERS

Over the weekend I had this overwhelming feeling to do something different. So I had the bright idea to start exploring L.A. Even though I have lived here for years, I feel I take this city for granted. So with that said, twice a month I will visit a new spot and bring some friends along for the ride. I am really excited to see where the city takes me.

For my first stop; Watt’s Towers. Surprisingly enough I have never visited this place. It is quite amazing. The only downside I missed the open to the public window by a half hour (so I will be coming back). For now I just admired it from outside the fence. It has a pretty amazing history, built by Italian immigrant Sabato Rodia over a 33 year period. Constructed mostly from found objects like pottery, scrap metal and sea shells. One thing I found interesting he actual had a bungalow within the towers.

I highly recommend checking out the towers, it is a great place to visit and explore.

Located at, 1765 E 107th St, Los Angeles, CA 90002

Looking back on last weekend, it was really a great time. I wouldn’t mind having those kind of weekends every weekend. I think I will make that my mission, fill every weekend with fun, laughter and good friends.

WINE TASTING

Deciding to take the trip to SF and go wine tasting was the best idea and exactly what I needed. It was so beautiful up on Sonoma, the weather was perfect, the wine was good and the company was great. I have never done a barrel tasting before. You basically visited each vineyard and have a taste straight from the barrel. It was very interesting.

FIRST STOP: Rodney Strong Vineyards, the views alone were amazing. It reminded me a lot of Tuscany, because of the rolling hillsides. One cool thing I have never seen was the grape vines with the fruit. The plants have this spooky character to them, almost like they came out of a Tim Burton film.

THIRD STOP: Wilson Winery, I loved their barrel room. Barrels are stacked to the ceiling great for a good photo op. They also had an amazing view.

At this point, I have lost track of how many vineyards we visited. I think this was the last stop, West Wines. They are a fairly new vineyard, with really good wines. I purchased their Cuvée that’s super yummy. Since this was the last stop we ended up having a photo shoot in their classic Ford truck.

I cannot wait to this again next year!

HAPPY FRIDAY

image

I sure am happy it’s Friday. Even though it was a short week, it felt pretty long and stressful. This weekend I am hoping to just relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Thanks to my lovely friend she sent me an article from Los Angeles magazine that I really wanted to get a copy of. The article was about the best hidden spots in LA ranging from food, outdoor activities and culture. I am dying to check out some of these caves. Stay tuned I might be sharing my experience next week.

Have a lovely weekend!

HAPPY FRIDAY

image

This week has kicked my ass, and never felt happier that it’s Friday. I think the highlight of my week was a much anticipated package that finally arrived at my doorstep last night. I am sure I will be sharing it on instagram later today. It’s supposed to be a rainy weekend, which means a lot of movie watching. I have also been doing some major artwork hunting for my bedroom, this print is a contender. It’s a good phrase to read every morning.

Have a lovely weekend!
