DESIGN’VY #10

It is no surprise that I love ice cream. So when I came across this extremely cute identity for this company Eyescream I nearly fell out of my chair. Designed by M Barcelona, this entire identity has everything you need, cute little ice cream characters, super clean menu and who doesn’t love your ice cream staring back at you. I only wish this company was in the U.S. it is such a great concept.

I love these watercolor logos, they all resemble a piece of food and are all used to create different business cards. They are so elegant and playful. I also enjoy a nice colorful logo.

DESIGN’VY #7

As a designer, I have had my “dream job” fantasies. It is no surprise that one of them is Anthropologie. When I came across this playful and completely shop-able online catalogue it just made that “dream job” fantasy more desirable. Since I work in the fashion industry I am constantly looking for inspiration and this is definitely one to add to the list.

I am happy to finally share my most recent wedding invite design. This project was special because I had the opportunity to design their menu, escort cards and wedding ceremony program (I hope to share those images soon). Johanna wanted to have a rustic vintage feel to her invites. Initially I wanted to print them on chipboard, but the cost was a little out of their budget. So I worked with my amazing printer Jorge from Color on Demand and he suggested creating a chipboard texture and then print on a textured paper. I have always wanted to use lace in a design so I was excited to incorporate that into the finished piece. For a personal touch I drew their silhouettes that appear on all of their wedding pieces. I am really happy with the final package, they are beautiful.

ARTIST CRUSH: ALBERT EXERGIAN

A couple weekends ago I checked out the Graphic Design Now in Production exhibit at the Hammer Museum. It was a graphic designers dream, typography, logos, tv and film opening sequences, posters and books. There was so much to take in, there were definitely a few pieces that stood out to me. I was excited to see Albert Exergian’s television posters on display. They are so simple and straight to the point, I think that’s why I love them so much. I wish I took a better picture of them, but thanks to the internet I found better images of the display. The ones I loved the most were The Simpsons, Weeds and Mad Men. I might just need to purchase one of these for my collection.

DESIGN’VY #6

This is seriously the sexiest typography I have seen in awhile. Jordan Metcalf created these beautiful type treatments for “Best of Boston 2012” issue. I am having a big case of design’vy this morning.

I love the identity Raw Color created for food designer Franke Elshout. I love the use of color, textures and having the ability to change the identity from food, to cooking to tools. It has a simple quality that is still very impactful.

WHERE’S MY BUS PASS

The designs of these vintage bus passes are awesome. I love the colors and the typography. It’s giving me some good ideas for an upcoming project!

DESIGN’VY #4

Another great restaurant identity, designed by Stitch Design Co. for Food is Good. I love that they used the word FIG as an acronym.

This entire identity by Lotta Nieminen is absolutely beautiful. The soft color palette, the simple pattern and lovely typography create such an elegant package.
